Just Stay This Little

Dear baby girl:
You're 4 years old today and it feels as though these past four years have gone by in the blink of an eye. This year has been so incredibly difficult but through it all, you've been a ray of sunshine.
I remember so clearly how I cried and laughed hysterically when the doctors told me you were a girl with a head full of black hair just like I had when I was born. You felt like a special gift meant just for me in that moment and every day since I feel more and more thankful to have a sweet little girl who wears my sunglasses, strikes a pose and yells "WORD!" (Thank your big brother for that one!)

To your Mutha.
A little girl who now refuses to let me do her hair because Daddy only uses headbands and really, who needs to brush their hair anyways? A little girl who pretends I'm her prince and makes all her dolls watch our wedding as I dip you during the first dance. Just like my Momma did with me as we danced in the living room when I was a little girl.
You're my precious little girly girl who believes in fairy tales and true love and who hopefully always will despite the fact that life is upside down for us all right now. Know this: no matter where life takes us from here, you are the best little girl in the whole world and I love you more than words could ever say.

I adore you from the top of your hobo hair head to the tip of your Colie toes. From your big, beautiful brown eyes to your cute little button nose.

You are the light of my life.

Happy birthday sweet girl, with a million Italian cheek kisses.

Happy Birthday, LO!

Colie, I've missed you. I am running so far and so hard, that I've not made time for your Chronicles.

Very glad to see you've added email subscriptions; that is the kind of prodding I need.

Keep up the good work, and let's keep fucking cancer.
